Go Plant Fleet Services

We have landed a prestigious national award following a safety initiative involving our entire workforce. The number of minor accidents across the business was down by 20 per cent following a Near Miss campaign that included all of our employees.
And the success of the initiative has now been formally recognised by the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA). The organisation chose the campaign as the winner of the ‘Workforce Involvement’ category in its Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) awards programme.

Phil Quelch, National Fleet Engineering Director, said: “Since the relaunch of the Near Miss campaign last September, reports have increased across the business.
“The overwhelming success of the campaign has also been the key driver in helping us reduce the number of minor accidents by 20 per cent across our business and we expect to see this continue.
“The analysis has helped us introduce initiatives such as making bump caps mandatory when working under a vehicle, changes to protective eyewear standards and three points of contact stickers on vehicles.”
The awards recognise and reward efforts and achievements in raising awareness for improved SHE performance across all aspects of the road surface treatments industry.
The ceremony was held at the RSTA’s gala dinner at The Belfry, near Birmingham.
Mr Quelch added: “As a business, we put a massive amount of importance on Health and Safety and have been very keen to ensure our entire workforce is on board.
“Our initiative to raise awareness and improve reporting of Near Misses has been hugely successful, so to receive independent recognition with a national award was fantastic news for all of us.
