The team at Go Plant have marked a prestigious partnership with one of the country’s most popular and advanced racing tracks.
The company’s Southern Service Centre is celebrating its long-standing partnership with Hampshire-based Thruxton Racing Circuit, who utilise the firm’s specialist vehicle and road sweeper hire services to maintain and clear its 2.4 mile track – believed to be the longest and fastest in the UK.
The firm provides road sweeper hire vehicles for regular sweeping to ensure that the circuit is free of any foreign objects and debris making it safe for users, which includes car and motorbike enthusiasts, as well as those on special track day experiences.
Shaun Smithson, Business Development Manager of Go Plant’s Southern Region, explained: “It’s always a real pleasure to work with the team at Thruxton Racing Circuit, and we’re thrilled to have marked such a milestone achievement. Undertaking regular sweeps prior, during and after use is vital to ensure that the track is in the safest condition and free from any debris, chewed up grass or mud.”
Thruxton Racing Circuit was originally an old airfield during the war. In 1950 it was opened as a race track, with both runways and perimeter roads included as part of the circuit. Open to both motorbikes and cars, the track was redeveloped and saw the addition of a new chicane and three new corners.
Pat Blakeney, Operations Manager at Thruxton Race Circuit, explained: “Although planning restrictions at the track mean we can only host 12 days of racing each year, we’re extremely busy during this period and even hold British Touring Car Championships, British Formula 3, GT, club and truck racing, as well as the British Superbike Championship (BSB), the UK’s premier motorcycle championship.
“The popularity of our circuit during these 12 days is extremely high, so it’s really important for us to minimise any risks of accidents, ensure the drivers are as safe as possible, and ultimately, keep the track open to users for the maximum length of time,” he concluded.
