OCT 2010 : GPL HIRE CONTINUES TO SUPPORT MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
Following a tender process during 2010, GPL Hire has been awarded the Contract to provide 25 compact road sweepers on contract hire to Manchester City Council. GPL Hire has been working with Manchester City Council to provide a successful fleet management solution since 1999 and this latest contract award will secure the working partnership for the next 4 years.
Deputy Managing Director of Go Plant Ltd, Malcolm Norton said ‘We’re very happy to have been awarded this latest Contract with Manchester City Council to provide their compact sweeper fleet. To date GPL has been working in partnership with Manchester C.C. for over 11 years, helping to deliver an effective fleet management service. We look forward to working with Manchester C.C. over the next four years and are looking at ways to further improve service levels’.
The new sweeper fleet will consist of a mix of Scarab Minors and Johnston CX200s representing an investment of £1.7m by GPL Hire. Working with Manchester City Council, GPL Hire have been able to create custom vehicle specifications that match the exacting operational requirements of the Street Cleansing workforce and eliminate excessive cost. The vehicle maintenance will be carried out by GPL technical staff who are transferring to Manchester C.C. under TUPE.
